What is Oracle?
Oracle is the most popular relational database management system (RDBMS) for large databases. It was developed by Larry Ellison's Oracle Corporation in the late 1970s, and uses a proprietry "flavor" of SQL known as PL-SQL. Oracle introduced the first relational database designed for Grid Computing, where Oracle's Real Application Clusters and Automatic Storage Management allow for the use of large numbers of servers and storage acting as one self-managing Grid for high quality service on low-cost, modular hardware. With Oracle, information is securely consolidated and always available.
